ANAHOLA, Kauai (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Lihue man is dead after an off-duty lifeguard found his body floating in waters off Anahola.
Authorities identified the man as Brian Horikami, 57.
According to Kauai Police, the lifeguard spotted Horikami's body about 100 meters off South Aliomanu Road at around 9:45 a.m. Sunday. On-duty lifeguards responded and brought Horikami to shore, where he was pronounced dead.
Police investigators found the man's truck parked in the area. The victim's girlfriend told police that he was fishing near Aliomanu Sunday morning, but was late in returning home.
Police have requested an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
