Police charge man in burglary, police chase

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have charged a man who attempted to burglarize two homes and led officers on a chase in Leeward Oahu with several counts, including first-degree attempted murder.

Police also charged Daven Cummings with first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal property damage and unauthorized entry into a dwelling. Bail was set at $90,000.

Officers allege Cummings, 25, tried to break into two homes in Makakilo Friday morning, but fled both times after being surprised by the homeowners. He then led officers on a chase from Makakilo to Nanakuli and back past Makakilo to Kunia. He also allegedly sped toward a squad car, clipping the passenger side and breaking the car's mirror as he escaped a cul de sac at the end of Hauone Street. The officer was not hurt.
