HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's be frank. When it comes to fashion, your style is hit-or-miss.
You tried the feather thing when that craze took off and ended up looking like a Hollywood reject from a bad western movie. Color blocking sounded great - but your outfits were more Crayola than Christian Dior.
You want to try something new but you're feeling a little gun shy.
Lei Chic Senior Editor Christi Young introduces us to a new jewelry line by a University of Hawaii student that turns bullet shells into totally wearable accessories.
Marketing and fashion major Kaylin Laeha started Panacea about a year ago. She started with beads her aunt sent her, studied metal work at the Honolulu Academy of Arts and in Italy, and soon her leather-and-chain cuff/ring combos were selling fast at monthly Art & Flea events.
Her newest pieces in her GR/T line are earthy precious stones such as tigers eye, turquoise, and agate encased in spent bullet shell casings. The effect is bold, yet at the same time, streamlined and subtle.
You can find GR/T in The Butik on Kapiolani Blvd. and in its new online shop at www.thebutik.com.
