MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Fans had a chance to take part in some Hawaii Five-0 filming after watching the UH women's volleyball team beat Pepperdine on Saturday.

"Everybody's in a good mood. I think if we would have lost, I don't think we would have this atmosphere, but we won and it's just great to have the fans come out like that," said volleyball coach Dave Shoji.

"That's real energy from real volleyball fans, and so the fact that we can take advantage of that and kind of use that to fuel us, it's a win-win situation," said actor Daniel Dae Kim.

None of the show's stars took part in the shooting at the Stan Sheriff Center, but Kim threw Five-0 t-shirts into the stands.

"We always said that Hawaii was a fifth character on our show and being able to highlight the University of Hawaii is a fantastic thing for our show."

The actual UH players couldn't be in the shoot due to NCAA regulations. Actors were brought in for the made-up match between Hawaii and Rio Rancho State University.

"We wanted to get some authentic crowd reactions like this and we wanted to film some volleyball players actually playing at the University of Hawaii," Kim said.

"It was awesome. It was great. It was cool," said Asa Kurasaki of Palolo Valley.

"Pretty exciting and pretty tiring cause we had to do take after take," said Yee Vong of Palolo.

There has been a lot of speculation about the storyline, but fans will just have to wait until this episode airs on October 17.

"Being able to include people from the community, real people from the community, makes the show more authentic. I love it," said Kim.
