AFGHANISTAN (HawaiiNewsNow) - Volunteers from Hawaii are helping to spread some aloha in a war-torn country far away. Hawaii Lions Club members Jim Bryan and Gary Bowersox are currently in Afghanistan on a humanitarian mission. With the help of students from Sacred Hearts and La Pietra, more than 5,000 pairs of eyeglasses were donated and distributed to elderly residents in a remote village in Afghanistan. More than 400 pairs of socks were also given to young Afghan school girls. Other items like volleyballs helped lift the children's spirits.
