HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Diamond Head summit trail will be closed Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. as part of ongoing summit trail improvements.
The Department of Land and Natural Resources says the trail will reopen on Friday at 6 a.m.
DLNR says a helicopter will fly in railings and other materials to be installed around a lookout area.
"Our contractor firm Global Specialty Contractors is doing its best to limit trail closures," said William J. Aila, DLNR interim chairperson. "We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as we work to make the trail a better and safer experience."
