MOANALUA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A brushfire came dangerously close to a number of homes in Moanalua Gardens Tuesday morning.
Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig says the flames came within feet of about a half dozen homes on Ala Amoamo street. The fire was first reported around 10:40 a.m. on the Ft. Shafter golf course.
The fire quickly moved up the side of a hill closer to the homes in Moanalua Gardens.
30 Honolulu firefighters joined federal firefighters in battling the flames which scorched about three to four acres.
As the fire came closer some residents decided to leave their homes with pets just in case.
Capt. Seelig says the flames which came between five to 10 feet of several homes were extinguished about 12:23 p.m.
No one was hurt and no homes were damaged in the fire. Federal Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
