MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A California man accused of killing Santa Cruz attorney Celestial Cassman is now in jail.
38-year-old Gerald Galaway was moved Monday afternoon from the Maui Memorial Medical Center to the Wailuku Police Station.
Galaway is due to make his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
He faces charges of Murder in the Second Degree, attempted Sexual Assault in the First Degree, and Kidnapping.
Cassman was vacationing on Maui when witnesses reported seeing her struggling with a man moments before her body was found on September 1. Galaway was injured when he jumped off a 100-foot cliff into the ocean to try to elude police. He was rescued the following morning and taken to Maui Memorial Medical .
Maui police died Cassman died of asphyxiation.
Galaway is being held without bail.
