HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - 19-year-old Sascha Franzel graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute just two years ago but on Saturday police in Colorado say she died sometime after drinking alcohol at her apartment.
There are very few details surrounding her death but police say there were no signs of foul play.
Meantime on the campus of Mid-Pacific Institute where Franzel graduated she's being remembering with both joy and sadness.
"When people heard about this, everybody knew Sascha so it's very sad for the whole school" said Linda Johnson a teacher at Mid-Pacific.
"It's kind of hard to explain but if you've ever been in a dark place and someone turned on the lights all of a sudden, this would be her" said Joe Rice president of Mid-Pacific Institute.
While at Mid-Pacific the bright eyed Franzel did more than just light up a room she especially loved theater and even had a big role in the school's production of rent.
"I just saw her a couple of weeks before she went back to college and I can't get that smiling beautiful bubbly face out of my mind. I was very close to her "said Johnson.
Close indeed Sascha had been a student of Johnson's from when Franzel was in the 6th grade.
Franzel was an only child and had hoped to become a doctor. Wherever she went, those who knew her say she made an impact.
"She always smiled, she was always singing, or moving around, going through her lines whatever, just an infectious personality."
Meantime, in Fort Collins Colorado, police say it will take several weeks to determine her exact cause of death. But for those who loved her the pain of her passing is almost too much to bear.
"She was a member of not just her family, but our family and to see her gone is unbelievable."
