HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The man accused of fleeing the scene after running over a teen with an SUV in Enchanted Lake last weekend was released from police custody Thursday pending further investigation.
It is not uncommon for Honolulu police to release a suspect in the early phases of a vehicular homicide investigation.
Owen Fujihara, Jr., 33, was booked on suspicion of failure to render aid and third-degree negligent homicide when he turned himself in at Honolulu police headquarters Tuesday night.
Micah Borengasser, 19, was killed when an SUV ran over him on Keolu Drive Saturday night. Investigators say he had been arguing with the vehicle's driver at the time.
