WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Department of Defense announced Thursday that the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade will deploy to Afghanistan early next year in support of the 82nd Airborne Division.
According to the DOD, approximately 2,800 personnel will deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
"The great men and women of the 25th CAB have been training hard in preparation for the possibility of a deployment to Afghanistan," said Col. Frank Tate. "The CAB has served with great distinction in both Iraq and Afghanistan in the past and stand ready to serve again when the nation calls."
The brigade has been training in operations including air assault missions, counter insurgency missions, medical evacuation missions, heavy cargo movements and other scenarios to prepare for deployment.
