KAHULUI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - 44 year-old Jess J. McGowan has been charged in connection with a bank robbery in Kahului on Tuesday.
Police say McGowan entered the Kahului Branch of American Savings on South Pu'unene Avenue at around 11:35 a.m., September 6 and demanded money from a teller.
Police say McGowan told the teller that he had a weapon; however, no weapon was seen.
Authorities say he ran off with an undisclosed amount of money. McGowan was arrested several hours later in the area of Hale Nanea off of Amala Place.
An initial court appearance is set for Thursday, September 8.
His bail is set at $50,000.
