Search for missing New York scuba diver resumes

EAST OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A search for a missing scuba diver resumed Wednesday morning, days after the search was called off.

New York City resident Matthew Curley has not been seen since Aug. 28.

The 28 year old was exploring a sunken vessel on a guided dive led by Island Divers when he disappeared.

On Tuesday Island Divers found diving equipment in the area near the sunken wreck Curley had been exploring.

The dive company turned the equipment over to the Honolulu Police Department.

At the request of HPD the Honolulu Fire Department resumed its search Wednesday morning.

Divers are searching the near the area known as "Baby Barge." Firefighters are also walking the shoreline while HFD's helicopter searches from above.
