HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii produces only 10-15% of the food that we consume, while exporting 80% of what we grow. The organization is committed to helping low income entrepreneurs that have businesses in the food system and who want to make local, healthy food accessible to all.
Feed the Hunger Foundation will have a gala event on September 8, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. It's theme is Destination Hawaii: Creating Our Food, Investing in Our People, Strengthening Our Community. The dinner will feature local dishes prepared by Chef Mavro, Ed Kenney, and Jeff Vigilla. Author and activist Frances Moore Lappe and Ed Kenney will discuss "Preparing the Table for the Next Generation" and entertainment will be provided by Michael Pili Pang's Halau Hula Ka Noeau and Marlene Sai.
