Groundbreaking ceremony to be held for new Maui school

WAILUKU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It's a big day for children in Wailuku.

Gov. Neil Abercrombie will attend the groundbreaking ceremony for a new elementary school on Wednesday.

The school will be called Pu'u Kukui and located mauka of the Oheo subdivision in Kehalani.

According to officials, the school will accommodate about 550 students from kindergarten to fifth grade.

The $37 million project is expected to be finished about a year from now.
