Governor Neil Abercrombie is scheduled to attend a groundbreaking ceremony on Maui for a new elementary school called Pu'u Kukui. The Wailuku facility will welcome about 550 students when it's finished in about a year.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is extending the Dolphin Smart Program aimed at dolphin viewing companies and their customers. The workshop, which promotes responsible viewing practices, starts at 6 p.m. at the Waipahu High School cafeteria.
Republican presidential candidates will square off at a debate today in California. This come a day before President Obama unveils his plan for creating jobs to a joint session of Congress.

The Phantom is coming to Hawaii! "Phantom of the Opera" opens at Windward Community College's Paliku Theatre on September 9.
WAIKIKI AQUARIUM'S NEW EXHIBIT AT 8:10
The Waikiki Aquarium's new Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Exhibit is open to the public. The display features unique species like Japanese pygmy angelfish and Hawaiian morwongs.
