Hawaiian Airlines to launch San Jose-Maui service next year

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaiian Airlines will soon launch its first-ever nonstop flights from San Jose to Maui.

On Tuesday, the airline announced service to the Bay Area will begin in January 2012.

"We know how popular Maui is for South Bay residents so our new nonstop service from San Jose will let them make the most of their vacation, while relaxing with the best, most enjoyable inflight experience offered to Hawaii. Our special low introductory fares make this a particularly good time to save money and plan that winter vacation to Maui," Hawaiian Airlines senior vice president of marketing and sales Glenn Taniguchi said.

According to Hawaiian, Flight 46 will depart Maui's Kahului Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 1:25 p.m. The flight will arrive at Mineta San Jose International Airport at 8:25 p.m. Return Flight 45 will depart San Jose on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 8:10 a.m. and arrive at Maui at 11:45 a.m.

To celebrate the launch, Hawaiian is offering a special introductory roundtrip fare of $298.40 (plus applicable fees) for travel between Jan. 10 and Mar. 14, 2012. Tickets must be purchased by Sept. 14, 2011.

Hawaiian is also offering Kona-bound travelers the cost-saving option of flying to Kona via a flight connection on Maui at no extra charge.
