No tsunami from 7.0 quake near Vanuatu

EWA BEACH (HawaiiNewsNow) - A magnitude 7.0 earthquake shook the Vanuatu Islands Saturday, but did not generate a tsunami, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Ewa Beach.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake occurred at 12:56 p.m. Hawaii time (9:55 a.m. Sunday local time), with an epicenter 215 miles south-southeast of the Vanuatu capital of Port Vila. The quake was 82.3 miles deep.
