HAPPENING TODAY:

Rescue crews are heading out again this morning to search for a missing scuba diver. Matthew Curley vanished during a guided dive off Kahala on Monday. The Honolulu Fire Department expanded its search area to include spots from Koko Head to Kakaako.

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation is scheduled to brief the Honolulu City Council this afternoon on the search for an executive director. The discussion will also include the selection of a ninth board member.

A powerful storm in the Pacific Ocean is bringing heavy rain to Japan's Kanto region. Typhoon Talas could make landfall tomorrow or Saturday, according to Japan's Meteorological Agency.
