Kona Community Hospital installs a new MRI system

Kona (HawaiiNewsNow) - Today there will be a special ceremony blessing a new medical device is expected to improve the quality of care for Big Island residents.

The Kona Community Hospital installed a new MRI system that's specifically designed for larger patients and people who are claustrophobic. It has a foot of free space between a patient's head and the imaging machine. It's also big enough that 60 percent of exams can be done with the patient's head outside of the machine.
