Crews reach stranded hiker off the Pali

PALI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu fire rescue specialists safely brought down an injured hiker on the Pali Knots Trail.

A fire spokesperson says the man in his 20s has a possible sprained leg.

The problem was that the department's helicopter was unable to reach him at first because of the tough terrain access and windy conditions.

A Coast Guard helicopter was called in to help with the rescue, but suffered a mechanical problem in the air and was forced to land.

So the patient was relocated to a better area where he was airlifted out.
