Big Island has new fire chief

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Big Island's fire department has named a new boss.

The fire commission last night elected Darren Rosario the new Hawaii County fire chief.

The 44-year-old has been with the department for 21 years, most recently serving as assistant chief for emergency operations.

Once sworn in, he will replace retiring chief Darryl Oliveira.
