Hawaii-based Marines face punishment for hazing death

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two Marines with Hawaii ties are facing severe punishment after allegedly hazing another Marine who killed himself in Afghanistan.

According to a military investigation, 21-year-old Lance Cpl. Harry Lew killed himself with an automatic weapon back in April.

Lew was allegedly hazed that same night by two other Lance Corporals based out of Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

The two Marines, whose names were not released, were reportedly angry Lew fell asleep several times while manning a guard post.

One of the two Lance Corporals are expected to receive a non-judicial punishment while the other Marine was expected to face court-martial on a charge of cruelty and maltreatment.
