'Back to School' traffic expected to get worse Monday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Expect gridlock Monday morning when more than 43,000 college and private school students head back to class.

To alleviate the traffic crunch, the Department of Transportation will postpone construction projects during daylight hours all week.

The DOT is also allowing as few as two passengers to ride in the H-1 zipper-lane and Nimitz Highway contra-flow lane.

You can catch Taizo Braden's traffic updates every ten minutes weekdays on Sunrise.
