BANGOR, Maine (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hilo defeated Tyler, Tex., 11-1, Saturday to win the championship of the Senior League World Series in Bangor, Maine.
The Senior League is the 14- to 16 year-old division of Little League Baseball. The game was ended in the fifth inning because of the ten-run mercy rule.
Quintin Torres-Costa was the winning pitcher in the effort. An estimated 1,250 people were in the stands at Shawn T. Mansfield Stadium, where the senior league world series has been held since 2002.
Hilo represented the West, while Tyler was the Southwest team.
