HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It was a mixed bag at the pump this past week at island gas stations according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.
Thursday the statewide average for regular unleaded is $4.15 a gallon, two cents more than last week. However, some areas of the state experienced price declines. Honolulu's average price settled at $4 a gallon, declining three cents from last week.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.15 a gallon, two cents more than last week. Wailuku's average is $4.38 a gallon, the same price as last week.
"Even though the state average dropped, Hawaii still leads the nation in state average gasoline prices followed by New York at $3.888 a gallon, and Alaska at $3.886 a gallon," according to AAA Hawaii Regional Manager Diane Peterson. "Crude oil continues to trade below $90 per barrel, bringing down pump prices on the mainland – a move which we hope will reach here."
AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch is a weekly snapshot of gasoline prices. Price comparisons are offered as a service. Prices are derived from fleet vehicle credit card transactions at more than 100,000 stations around the country. Prices shown are combined averages of last card swipe of previous day.
