LAIE (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu City Council is set to vote on whether to grant a Special Management Area Permit to a developer who wants to build at 223-room Marriott.
It would replace the old 49-room Laie Inn.
A restaurant and banquet facility will be included.
Supporters say the project will provide jobs and a place for visitors to stay.
However, critics say it is too big and will hurt the area's drainage system, as well as clog traffic.
