HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Interested in buying an electric vehicle or "E-V" but don't know much about them?
Well now you can kick the tires a little bit by renting one ..
Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Hawaii Tuesday announced its adding a bunch of E-V's to its fleet, becoming the first rental car company in Hawaii to offer gas, hybrid and now electric vehicles to its customers.
"We already have over 200 hybrid vehicles in our fleet and we just felt the next step would be to bring in and offer them to the public and visitors as well" said John Foy sales manager at Enterprise.
Enterprise has a long standing corporate relationship with automaker Nissan, so the Nissan Leaf will be its flagship EV.
Pricing has not yet been set, but Enterprise says rates will be close to standard car rates.
"Were trying to make the experience an affordable one for our clients and customers" said Foy.
Enterprise hopes these new cars will answer a lot of questions for someone who may be in the market for an EV.
"Our idea is that we're going to put it into our rental fleet and local customers will come in and rent it for a day" said Nadine Cunningham, who is a Sales Executive at Enterprise.
Right now there are just seven electric vehicles in the enterprise fleet, but the company expects to more than triple that number by the end of the year.
