HANAKAPIAI, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Massachusetts man was rescued near Hanakapiai Falls after injuring his shoulder Monday afternoon.
The 31-year-old had been hiking about 100 yards below the falls when he dislocated his shoulder and called for assistance at about 4:55 p.m.
A fire helicopter flew to a nearby landing zone in the valley, and escorted the victim onboard.
He was then flown to Princeville Airport where awaiting medics transported him to Wilcox Hospital for medical treatment.
