HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There's been another delay in the sentencing of former Honolulu City Councilmember Rod Tam.
Tam was supposed to learn his punishment Tuesday for stealing taxpayer money to cover his personal meals, and for campaign spending violations. But the state Attorney General's office says it's still waiting for confirmation on the amount of restitution he must pay.
Tam is seeking a deferral, which is a chance to keep the misdemeanor and petty misdemeanor convictions off his record. State prosecutors have said they will ask for jail time.
Sentencing is now set for November 2nd.
