(HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Police Department graduates its 168th recruit class tonight. The ceremony starts at 7pm at the Hawaii Okinawa Center in Waipio.
24 recruits completed a 6 month training program and will now work alongside veteran officers in Chinatown and Waikiki. Among the graduates are a professional kick-boxer, two high school coaches and a Miss Hawaii pageant contestant.
Just a reminder, the blood drive continues in Downtown Honolulu. If you can donate, stop by Ali'I Place on Alakea Street today between 7 am and 1:30 pm. Call the Blood Bank of Hawaii at 848-4721 to schedule an appointment.
Get ready to go back in time with the Hot Club of Hulaville to the year 1949. The Na Hoku Hanohano award winning jazz group performs Saturday night at the Doris Duke Theatre. They'll channel a local band, pre-statehood, ready to leave Hotel Street for the glamour of Waikiki. Tickets cost $30 dollars, or $25 dollars if you're an Honolulu Academy of Arts Member.
