Coming Up on Hawaii News Now Friday

Happy Aloha Friday from Hawaii News Now! Here's what we're working on for our 5 and 5:30 newscasts.

IT'S OVER! MAUI STANDOFF ENDS AFTER 50 HOURS

A wanted fugitive believed to be armed has been taken alive by Maui Police. Fugitive Josiah Okudara had held off authorities for some three days, holed up in a Kahului home. Brooks Baehr will reports on how the standoff came to a sudden end, starting tonight at 5.

HILTON HEARS FROM PUBLIC ON EXPANSION PLANS

Hilton Hotels heard just how the public feels about its plans to expand its Waikiki property. Lisa Kubota will have that story for us.

SUSPECT SOUGHT IN SHOOTING

Big Island Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting that happened late last night. Police say the man they're looking for should be considered armed and dangerous.

AMBITIOUS CAMPERS CAMP WITHOUT A PERMIT TO SECURE A CAMPING PERMIT

Some very prepared campers are doing just that -- camping. They're in a growing line to get a precious permit from the city for the labor day weekend. We'll have more on that.

Also tonight, is it good or bad news for the weekend weather outlook? Ben Gutierrez will have that for us.

I hope you'll join Stephanie Lum and me for these stories and more when we see you on Hawaii News Now at 5 and 5:30. See you then!

Aloha,

Shawn
