HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Cool jewelry, cute bags, unusual problem solvers - those sound like great gifts for everyone on your list. One place to find it all would be the perfect present for you. And if it could all include unique items handmade by Hawaii artists, even better.
Lei Chic's Senior Editor Christi Young takes us along to a gift shop with a little bit of something for everyone. It's guaranteed in the title.
A Little Bit of Everything is tucked away in a building at the intersection of Kapiolani Boulevard and Curtis Street. Owner Valerie Kubota spent 25 years in banking before opening her dream shop celebrating her love of finding the perfect items to give to the special people in her life.
Many of the discoveries scattered throughout the shop are by local artisans, some who have made A Little Bit of Everything their only store. You'll find Koa clocks from the Big Island, pot holders and quilts from an Oahu woman, lavender from Maui, clothes and jewelry selected by a friend from Malaysia, eco-friendly reusable chopsticks, and even a luxury line for your pets.
Kubota loves helping others get a start especially if the vivacious businesswoman can make the connection. In fact, she's the reason Lei Chic readers got a chance to learn about a Mililani mom's travel pillow and blanket set that folds up into a stylish bag. Skydream's creator Angie Higa used to work in the bank with Kubota.
Kubota even offers up a small room in the store for traveling boutiques, craft workshops, non-profit meetings and more for no charge.
