H-1 Freeway near Aiea to close Sunday

AIEA (HawaiiNewsNow) - There will be a complete closure of the westbound lanes of the H-1 freeway Sunday night near Aloha Stadium.

The state Department of Transportation (DOT) will be installing traffic loop detectors under the H-1 Freeway pavement to provide traffic count data and traffic flow information.

The DOT says the full closure is necessary as the detectors must be installed across all lanes at the same time in order for proper operation.

Motorists are advised to avoid the H-1 westbound during the full closure hours if possible. Electronic message boards will be displayed throughout the week to notify motorists of the closures.

Motorists are advised to use caution when driving through this area and to allow for extra travel time. Road work is weather permitting.

H-3 Freeway: The Pearl City Off-Ramp (Exit 1A) will be closed. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the previous Honolulu Off-Ramp (Exit 1B) and onto the eastbound lanes of the H-201 Moanalua Freeway.
