HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Gas prices in Hawaii were up this past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.
Thursday, the statewide average for regular unleaded is $4.15 a gallon, six cents more than last week.
The average price in Honolulu is $4.04 per gallon, up five cents from last week, 12 cents more than a month ago and 67 cents higher than this time last year.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.16 a gallon, nine cents more than last week, 15 cents more than last month and 67 cents more than this time last year.
Wailuku's average is $4.39 a gallon, a penny more than last week, four cents more than last month and 61 cents more than on this date last year.
"Due to investors fears about the global economy, today the American stock market lost about 3 percent and crude oil declined by about $11 a barrel from a week ago, hovering at about $86 a barrel," according to AAA Hawaii Regional Manager Diane Peterson. "How this translates at the pump in the coming weeks remains to be seen. Prices are now 40 to 60 cents below record highs of earlier this year but 60 to 70 cents higher than this time last year."
