HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – That dress you thought was so cute on the clearance rack now looks like a dime a dozen. That Chanel knock-off you grabbed at the swap meet? You're faux over it.
Your wardrobe is stuffed with former favorites and "almost" outfits that still have the tags on them. It's time to get your fashion mistakes out of the closet.
Lei Chic Publisher Alyson Helwagen has just the solution; Hawaii's biggest clothing swap that is all for a good cause.
Fashionista's Market began the closet swap five years ago as a fundraiser for the Leeward Domestic Abuse Shelter. The idea was simple; tap into Hawaii's fashionista's for their discards and let them exchange the items for cute new outfits from other stylish shoppers.
Not that we're labeling anyone, but hunters have found everything from Michael Kors to Betsy Johnson treasures to Roxy and Forever 21 finds. It all starts with a champagne breakfast and a hilarious fashion show with a big prize – a head start sifting through the racks.
The 5th anniversary comes with some very special prizes and workshops aimed at helping you reuse what you won't rewear.
