Outdoor siren testing set for Monday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Department of Emergency Management and Hawaii State Civil Defense will conduct its monthly statewide test for its outdoor siren warning system on Monday.

The test will be held at 11:45 a.m. and last for a steady 45 seconds.

Oahu residents in areas surrounding Campbell Industrial Park, Honokai Hale, Makakilo, Kapolei Regional Park, Kapolei Golf Course, and the Coast Guard Station at Kalaeloa may also hear a "whooping" tone following the siren test.

The "whooping" tone is a test of the Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Incident outdoor siren warning group that will be activated in the event of a HAZMAT incident.
