Salt Lake Boulevard closed after car crashes into pole

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have shut down Salt Lake Boulevard in both directions between Ala Lilikoi and Radford Drive after a vehicle crashed into a pole.

According to officials, the incident happened at about 3 a.m. Monday.

The 19-year-old driver and 20-year-old passenger were taken to the Queen's Medical Center with minor injuries.

Hawaiian Electric Company crews will need to replace the entire pole.

Aliamanu Elementary and Middle Schools remain open. However, HECO crews shut off power at the middle school to make the necessary repairs.

Businesses at Salt Lake Shopping Center are also without power. Safeway and McDonald's are currently open.
