Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu gas prices are back over four dollars a gallon. According to AAA the average price in Honolulu is $4.01 per gallon, four cents more than last week, seven cents more than a month ago and 65 cents higher than this time last year.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.12 a gallon, a nickel more than last week, a dime more than last month and 67 cents more than this time last year. Wailuku's average is $4.30 a gallon, a penny more than last week, five cents less than last month and 61 cents more than on this date last year.
Today, the statewide average for regular unleaded is $4.11 a gallon, five cents more than last week. "Economists are watching the debt ceiling debate and votes by Congress to gauge the possible effect on the economy" according to AAA Hawaii Regional Manager Diane Peterson.
