HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The White House announced Wednesday it will host a dinner in Waikiki and a leaders' meeting in West Oahu during this November's annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
President Barack Obama will host the APEC Economic Leaders' reception and dinner on Nov. 12 at the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki, on Sunday Nov. 13 the leaders' will meet at the JW Marriott Ihilani at Ko Olina resort.
The White House say President Obama chose his birthplace of Honolulu for the meeting to highlight America's position as a Pacific nation. The White House statement also says that President Obama looks forward to welcoming his fellow APEC Leaders to the state where he was born and to showcasing Hawaii's rich cultural heritage and hospitality.
The Hawaii Convention Center will host Ministerial and Senior Officials' meetings, as well as house the international press file center.
