HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery that triggered a manhunt in Waimanalo earlier this month.

Jonathan Hewett is charged with first-degree robbery and four firearms offenses. Officers booked him at the Oahu Community Correctional Center, where he is being held for an unrelated case.

Investigators say a 21-year-old man stopped at a gas station in Kaneohe to fuel up his motorcycle at about 3 AM on July 7th, when the suspect approached him and complimented his bike. The man then allegedly brandished a handgun and stole the motorcycle.

Officers later found the bike and the gun dumped on Kumuhau Street in Waimanalo and launched a full-scale search of that area, but could not locate the suspect.

Police say Hewett was identified as the suspect during the investigation. His bail is set at $75,000.
