Tori Richard to manufacture APEC volunteer uniforms

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2011 Hawaii Host Committee has selected Tori Richard to manufacture its volunteer uniforms.

The family-owned company was founded in 1956. They will design and produce aloha apparel for volunteers to wear during APEC 2011 Leaders' Week in November.

"The Hawaii Host Committee is pleased to be working with Tori Richard, who for more than 50 years has been producing garments of the highest quality that also embody the aloha spirit and unique island lifestyle of Hawaii," said Peter Ho, Hawaii Host Committee Chair. "APEC 2011 provides an unprecedented opportunity for our state to showcase its hospitality. As we expect our volunteers to be a prominent presence throughout Leaders' Week, Tori Richard's unique approach to designing clothing seemed a natural fit for this selection."

The uniform print will consist of the national flowers of each of the 21 APEC economies. It will also feature authentic Hawaiian Kapa motifs in a traditional Aloha Shirt gridded pattern.

This year's APEC Leaders' Week will be held from Nov. 7 to 13.

It's expected to bring in about 20,000 attendees.
