HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - You never know what you're going to find on Facebook. A tip from my brother led me to a childhood friend's photos from a recent trip to Philmont Scout Ranch. That brought back a ton of memories.
More than forty years ago, Kenny Ashlock and I were among a dozen or so Boy Scouts who trekked those mountains of New Mexico. It was at the time, the farthest I had ever been from home.. and not exactly an easy trip. A dozen days in the wilderness, complete with bears, blistering heat and a surreal hail storm.
Well, Kenny apparently did it again.. with his son Keaton and scouts from Bolivar, Missouri. I bet it's a little tougher when you are in your mid-fifties. Nice job, Kenny! You are an inspiration!
