HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow)-"The Phantom of the Opera" star to raise funds for Live Music Awareness and Unity Church.
Byron Nease, a Broadway Leading Man in "The Phantom of the Opera," who now calls Hawaii home, will offer a special performance of "The Phantom Without the Opera" on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Unity Church on Diamond Head Circle. Making his Broadway debut opposite Angela Lansbury in "Mame," Nease has concertized from Carnagie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl. He has been called "A feast of musical inspiration" by Angela Lansbury and proclaimed "Transcendent!" by Jane Pauley.
The fundraiser will offer refreshments and appetizers in the garden at 6 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m. with a guest performance by local recording artist Mihana Souza. Hawaii Opera Theatre's very own, Bambi Noelani Brock, will join Nease later in the program for duets from "Phantom." Nease will offer an autobiographical journey of song celebrating the romance of Broadway.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Live Music Awareness, a 501 ( c ) 3 nonprofit organization, founded to help professional musicians bring their music to the public, while fostering music education in schools through a variety of music. Additional proceeds will also benefit Unity Church. Admission to the concert is $40 at the door.
