HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii's newest Target store is now open to the public.
A VIP event kicked off the festivities in Hilo Tuesday night.
Invited guests and even Bullseye the Target dog had a chance to tour the new store.
A special maile lei blessing and program was held to welcome Target's arrival to the east side of the Big Island.
The store created 300 jobs for the community.
"In the last three years, Hawaii Island as well as the rest of the state and across the nation has probably faced the worst economy since World War II," Big Island Mayor Billy Kenoi said. "And in this last three years, this wonderful company has had the confidence in Hawaii island, our community and our people to invest and open two wonderful stores in Kona and in Hilo."
The official grand opening for the store is Sunday.
