HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A homeless man accused of beating and robbing another homeless man is scheduled to make his initial appearance at Honolulu District Court Monday.

Anthony J. Costante, 43, is charged with second-degree robbery. His bail is set at $15,000.

Police say a 45-year-old man was in his tent in the Chinatown area at about 7:15 AM Friday, when the suspect demanded his property. When the victim refused, Costante allegedly assaulted him.

The victim managed to get out of his tent. Investigators say the suspect was then seen searching his belongings.

Costante is being held at HPD's main cellblock.
