HONOLULU - (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii county's longest serving mayor Herbert Tatsuo Matayoshi passed away Tuesday, July 12 at the age of 82.
Matayoshi was in office for a decade between 1974 -1984, he resigned to run for state senate. Matayoshi also served on Hawaii County's Board of Supervisors, the predecessor to the Hawaii County Council.
Matayoshi reportedly suffered a heart attack, he is the father of current school superintendent Kathryn Matayoshi.
Services are being held on July 26, 2011 at Borthwick Mortuary in Honolulu.
