Queen's Medical Center employees put out fire

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A fire at the Queen's Medical Center was reported at about 6:15 a.m. Friday.

According to officials, the fire occurred in the elevator room on the roof of the facility's Emma Tower.

Hospital employees managed to put out the flames before Honolulu firefighters arrived to the scene.

No real damage from the heat or fire was reported. Officials say there was some smoke damage, but it looks repairable.

No one was evacuated from the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, however, officials say it appears to be some kind of equipment malfunction inside the elevator room.
