Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - Celebrations happening in Japan; in Okinawa it is their first annual Alo Hai Festival with Hawaii's own Na Leo headlining and ending the show last night. Congratulations to Na Leo Pilimehana on the road.

Makaha Sons are on the road too; here's a picture of John Koko and his two sons that was taken at Dallas Airport while on a 6 hour layover on their way to Augusta, Georgia where they will play tomorrow night; they will be on the road for the next 2 weeks that will take them thru Orlando, Florida on their way to Virginia Beach, Virginia before coming home to prepare for their Japan Tour.
The island of Maui was celebrating last night: Congratulations to last nights winners in the soloist categories of the Queen Liliuokalani Keiki Hula Competition: Your new Miss Keiki Hula is Miss Shayla Ballesteros from Halau Na Lei Kaumaka O Uka under Na Kumu Hula Napua Makua and Kahulu Maluo; and you new Master Keiki Hula is Master Rahslan Benavides from Halau Kekua o kala'au ala iliahi under the direction of Na Kumu Hula Iliahi and Haunani Paredes....both halau are from Maui! The attention turns to the Kahiko portion of the competition tonight at the Blaisdell Arena. Mahalo to Shawnalyn Sunagawa for those pictures.
