HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Outrigger's Kani Ka Pila Grille is looking for new island talent with the third annual Kani Ka Pila Grille Talent Search.
The winning performer or group will receive a one-month paid contract with Kani Ka Pila Grille at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach, which includes five Thursday performances throughout September 2011 (September 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29). In addition, the winners will receive studio time at the Honolulu Community College's Mike Curb MELE (The Music & Entertainment Learning Experience) Studios which includes tracking and mixing sessions in their newly built studio.
Musicians need to submit a music sample on DVD or provide a link to an online performance for contest consideration. Submissions may be emailed to email@example.com or mailed to Luana Maitland, Kani Ka Pila Grille, c/o Outrigger Reef on the Beach, 2169 Kaila Road, Honolulu, Hawaii 96815. All entries must be received by July 15, 2011, and must include the artist or group name, contact person, email and phone number.
Five finalists will be selected from the preliminary review and these artists/groups will be invited to perform live as part of this year's Made in Hawaii Festival at the Neal Blaisdell Center on August 20, 5 to 8 p.m. In the Pikake Room.
Judges include Grammy-nominated slack key guitar master Cyril Pahinui, Keala Chock, Program Coordinator for MELE at Honolulu Community College, Jason Genegabus, Entertainment/Online Editor at the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and HonoluluPulse.com. and Luana Maitland, Ambassador of Aloha and Music Director at Kani Ka Pila Grille.
